About Us

Where Western men wear tailored suits,
and Arab leaders wear crisp kaftans,
the Indian man will wear his own.

Before it had a name, it was simply a bandh gale ka coat — a closed-collar jacket worn by royals, thinkers, and reformers across the subcontinent. Then came Jawaharlal Nehru, who wore it on the world stage and showed, quietly and without argument, that being gentlemanly has nothing to do with looking Western.

The silhouette became synonymous with the man. The man became synonymous with a nation that was modernising without erasing its past. And then, somehow, the jacket was put away. Reserved for weddings. For occasions. For garment bags.

We think that was a mistake. And we are here to correct it.

Indian Jacket Company was founded on a single conviction: that the Nehru jacket is not a relic. It is a uniform waiting to be reclaimed. Not for occasions. For every day the modern Indian man chooses to show up as himself.

What we are building

There is no clear leader in Indian smartwear for men. The options are either mass-market and forgettable, or bespoke and inaccessible. The man who wants something in between — well-made, well-priced, designed for the way he actually lives — has been largely ignored.
That man is who we make for. The architect who wants to wear India to a client meeting. The professional who needs something sharp for a Thursday evening that is not a sherwani. The son who watched his father wear a Nehru jacket with quiet authority and wants to carry that forward, but differently.
We are not reviving Indianwear. We are evolving it. Each jacket we make is designed to feel as natural on a Tuesday morning as it does at a wedding in Udaipur. The goal is simple: give Indian men a uniform they can be proud of, rooted in culture, refined for today, and ready for the world.

What we believe in

  1. Pride in identity :The Nehru jacket carries the weight of Indian history and the promise of Indian modernity. Wearing it is not just style. It is self-respect.
  2. Sophistication with authenticity : True style is not borrowed, it is owned. We blend cultural heritage with modern tailoring — as sharp in the boardroom as at a festival.
  3. The modern uniform : Just as the suit became the symbol of Western professionalism, the Nehru jacket will become India's own symbol of elegance and authority.
We care about the small things — the weight of the fabric, the finish of a button, the fall of a collar. Because the man who wears this jacket notices those things. And because a garment that is meant to carry identity deserves to be made with the same intention.
Cultural pride is not loud. It is tailored.
This is only the beginning.
Indian Jacket Company is not just a brand. It is a movement — to establish the Nehru jacket as the definitive Indian smartwear for every modern man. From business to weddings, from interviews to festivals, from campuses to boardrooms.

The thread has only begun.
